Price died May 15, 2004, from wounds sustained when individuals using rocket-propelled grenades and small arms fire ambushed his unit, in Kajaki, Afghanistan,. He was assigned as an Assistant Detachment Commander in 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, supporting Operation ENDURING FREEDOM at the time of his death.
