This is the first ever footage of a mating pair of deep sea anglerfish in the wild! These fanfin anglers (Caulophryne jordani) were filmed at a depth of 800 meters by deep-sea explorers Kirsten and Joachim Jakobsen for the Rebikoff Foundation in the oceans near Portugal’s Azores islands. Deep-sea anglerfish males are tiny compared to their female counterparts. In the most extreme cases, females may be more than 60 times the length and about a half-a-million times as heavy as the males. When a ma
