Welcoming refugees was central to the success of the Protestant reformation. Geneva welcomed refugees from throughout Europe, including English speaking refugees led by John Knox. These refugees translated the Bible into English, the Geneva Bible, and then later returned to the UK. The Geneva Bible was used by puritans who came to America.
