Is it easy to shuck this WD external drive? - [H]ard|Forum

All my latest shuck drives had an issue intenteded by WD, and its the 3.3v reset, the drives wont work on most sata power connectos due to this issue, for me required to use molex to sata power to make them work my server so just be warned if you dont see the drive being recognized test this before.

WEBDec 20, 2016 · Idle 2.7 bels, Operating 2.8 bels = 27/28 dba idle/seek. 10 TB IronWolfs have: Idle/Seek 28/32 dba. 10 TB WD Red = 20/29 Idle/Seek. But the 8 TB 256 Cache WD RED is 27/29 Idle/Seek. So if I was getting 10 TB IronWolf drives vs the 10 TB Red drives, there's a difference of 8 dba idle and 3 dba seek.

WEBMay 30, 2021 · Now the same drivers are in the 130-150 and most 6tb on Amazon are hitting anywhere between 180-200. 4TB to 6TB prices have been $120-200+ for several years depending on make and model. If you wanted a WD Black 4-6TB drive you were paying $150+. Reds were a bit less.

Messages. 302. makes no sense. enterprise = durability and performance. for desktop you'd better get some cheap ssd being still ages faster in terms of seeks compared to any spinner + slower but higher capacity sata for file dumps (videos, music, photos etc) & backups.

Beware of WD Red / Red Pro Hard drives if not using Raid / NAS
WEBNov 18, 2004 · So I have noticed a trent with Western Digital Red / Red Pro hard drives. They fail if you are not using NAS / RAid. I am now batting 1000 on my drives failing every 2 1/2 years. My main usage is not that heavy. I use them mainly as data storage for movies, files, games, pictures. I was under the impression that they would be the best backup drive.
