The screaming eagle has been a University of Southern Indiana tradition since 1970 when the mascot was introduced at the first game of the 1970-71 basketball season. By 1978, students decided that the mascot needed a name.

USI’s mascot program is seeking students who embody and encourage Screagle Pride to serve as Archie or one of Archie’s friends. The goal is to inspire Screaming Eagles, young and young-at-heart, and support the University’s goals of achieving national prominence in each varsity sport and continued academic excellence.
