They simply removed the word “CLUB,” made the font clearer for easier readability, and increased the contrast between the background and light elements, darkening the red by a few shades.

A long-running side project where I design a new logo for all 30 NBA teams. This layout with the hawk perched over the ball was inspired by the 1951 Milwaukee Hawks logo. The Hawks later moved to St. Louis before moving to Atlanta in 1968. I liked the hawk and ATL lettering as secondary logos.

May 1, 2021 · On Tuesday morning, the Atlanta Hawks officially unveiled their new uniforms, colors and logos. Taking inspiration from the team’s looks of the 1970s and 1980s, the Hawks brought back the red and yellow color scheme made famous during the Dominique Wilkins era.

A slight update to the Atlanta Hawks Global Icon logo for the 2020-21 NBA season, the team updated the font used for the wording in the roundel and also removed the word "CLUB" from the logo entirely. The team's modernized "Pac-Man" logo remains, surrounded now with "ATLANTA HAWKS BASKETBALL" in white.

In 1995, the Hawks began their pursuit in the next chapter of Atlanta team logos and uniforms. O’Grady, working with Champion Athletic was mastering dye sublimation techniques with the popular Phoenix Suns, Toronto Raptors, Utah Jazz and Milwaukee Bucks uniform designs.
