For weeks, Sami Zayn had called out Gunther for a shot at the world heavyweight championship. Zayn got his show in the Raw main event on Monday night but he was unable to find the victory over the champion as he had when the pair met earlier this year at WrestleMania.

WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Gunther, stood tall after retaining his title over Sami Zayn in the main event of the first two-hour episode of WWE Raw in 12 years. For weeks Zayn had been angling for a match with The Ring General with the world championship on the line,

By retaining his title against Sami Zayn on WWE RAW, Gunther seemingly punched his ticket to WWE Crown Jewel. In the main event of the October 7 episode of WWE RAW, Gunther defeated Sami Zayn via submission to retain the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
