A new wolf pack has emerged in Northern California, wildlife officials confirmed this week, marking a continued resurgence of the endangered species.

After at least 30 new wolf pups were born in California this year, the state had its largest wolf population growth in a century.

The gray wolf (Canis lupus) is a recovering endangered species protected under the California Endangered Species Acts and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Federal Endangered Species Act.
