Back-to-back NCAA Tournament champion UConn narrowly avoided falling out of the AP Top 25 college basketball poll entirely on Monday after an 0-3 week at the Maui Invitational in which it lost to three unranked teams in as many days.

Kansas held off Auburn for the No. 1 ranking in the Associated Press Top 25 men's college basketball poll Monday as Southeastern Conference teams grabbed three of the top four spots and two-time reigning national champion UConn nearly fell out entirely after an 0-3 week at the Maui Invitational.

The aforementioned 2017 Wildcats, who dropped out of the AP Top 25 poll early in the year, bounced back from their slow start and finished the year with a 27–8 record, only to fall to Buffalo as a No. 4 seed in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

After three losses to unranked opponents in the Maui Invitational last week, the UConn men’s basketball team fell from No. 2 out of the AP Top 25 on Monday.
