The Los Angeles Dodgers announced last week that designated hitter Shohei Ohtani underwent surgery for a torn labrum he sustained during the World Series against the New York Yankees. Ohtani injured his shoulder while attempting to steal second base during Game 2 of the World Series.

In his first season with the Dodgers, Shohei Ohtani is the favorite to add a third MLB Most Valuable Player award to his first World Series title. Finalists for the BBWAA awards were announced Monday and Ohtani is one of three finalists for the National League MVP award along with Francisco Lindor of the New York Mets and Ketel Marte of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
