U.S. trade talks collapsed earlier this year with New Delhi not agreeing to widen market access to its vast agricultural and dairy sectors.

The Indian side is also looking to add more S-400 squadrons to its inventory and is asking Russia to supply the remaining two squadrons of the missile systems, of which three have already been inducted and operationalised.

India is in talks with Russia to buy missiles worth Rs 10,000 crore for its S-400 air defence system. The system, hailed as a “game changer,” reportedly downed 5–6 Pakistani fighter jets and a spy plane over 300 km inside Pakistan during a recent conflict.
