There’s a new game of Strands to play every day. The game will present you with a six by eight grid of letters. The aim is to find a group of words that have something in common, and you’ll get a clue as to what that theme is. When you find a theme word, it will remain highlighted in blue.

Strands requires the player to perform a twist on the classic word search. Words can be made from linked letters — up, down, left, right, or diagonal, but words can also change direction, resulting in quirky shapes and patterns.

Considering the global sensation it has grown into Wordle has remarkably humble origins, being invented by New York-based software developer Josh Wardle during the coronavirus pandemic because he wanted a game "for me and my partner to enjoy.
