Federal officials are increasing air monitoring around a southeast Missouri lithium-ion battery plant that caught fire, the Environmental Protection Agency announced Friday.

EPA and Missouri officials are closely monitoring air quality in Fredericktown following a lithium battery plant fire. Residents are advised to heed evacuation orders as air monitoring continues.

Another video shared by Jacob Armes shows a large explosion tear through the roof of the plant. The Fredericktown Fire Department and the Bismarck Fire Protection District responded to the blaze, urging those nearby to close windows and doors and turn off any window AC units to avoid smoke getting into their homes.
