Florida and Texas dominate the list of major U.S. metros that experienced the largest annual home price drops last month.

California Democrats are taking up their proposed constitutional amendment to temporarily redraw their congressional maps, hours after Republicans in the Texas House passed new maps of their own.

The vote overcame weeks of protests from House Democrats who fled the state to stall a vote on the mid-cycle redistricting.

After a long day of debate, the Texas House of Representatives passed GOP-favored congressional maps Wednesday evening that could flip five Democratic districts.

"Leading the House required tough choices, but I sought to chart a course inspired by the values we share in Southeast Texas," Phelan, R-Beaumont, wrote.

Since the beginning of his second term, Trump has directed several major renovations at the White House. Trump redesigned the previously minimalist Oval Office, making some of the most significant changes to the room's appearance in modern presidential history, adding gold medallions, gold vermeil figurines, gold eagles, and gilded Rococo mirrors.

Offices gave various reasons for the pause, including “construction projects,” “extensive renovations” and “because of construction on the new White House ballroom.”
