The seventh installment in the action-adventure series created by Steven Spielberg opened well ahead of expectations over the long Fourth of July holiday in the U.S. - where it racked up $147.8 million - as well as overseas.

Jurassic World Rebirth proved that audiences still crave prehistoric action with a global debut of $318 million over the long holiday weekend. On the domestic side of things, the film grossed $147.3 million at the box office over the five-day stretch between July 1-6.

“Jurassic World” was missing from IMAX screens domestically (due to a commitment to continue showing “F1”), but it thrived on the premium large format screens where it played. One of those options was Dolby Cinema, where it made nearly $8 million from only 167 screens in five days.
