First-year coach Kim Caldwell and No. 19 Tennessee got their first signature win of the season and it came against the Lady Vols’ longtime rival — UConn. A back and forth game went Tennessee’s way in the end as the team came away with an 80-76 victory Thursday night.

No. 19 Tennessee defeated No. 5 UConn in Knoxville on Thursday, winning the matchup between two of the most accomplished programs in women's college basketball for the first time in their past five meetings.

The No. 5 UConn Huskies flopped in an 80-76 loss on the road at the No. 19 Tennessee Volunteers on Thursday night. The Huskies shot just 5-20 from three, went 19-35 on layups and struggled in the game’s biggest moments.
