Former Texas Rep. Colin Allred (D) on Monday explained why he dropped his Senate bid after talking with Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas), who later joined the race. Allred told CNN’s Dana Bash that

The former Dallas congressman said he wanted to help his party avoid a runoff. He will face U.S. Rep. Julie Johnson, his successor in Congress.
