Republicans will regain control of the Senate after capturing at least two Democratic-held seats on Tuesday, essentially giving the GOP majority control for the first time since losing it in the 2020 election cycle.

Republican wins in Ohio and West Virginia put the party two seats ahead in the race for control of the U.S. Senate. Republican businessman Bernie Moreno beat incumbent Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, improving Republican chances of taking back control of the Senate.

Republicans have successfully retaken control of the Senate after flipping seats in several key states on Tuesday, including Ohio and West Virginia. Heading into Election Day, the GOP was widely favored to wrest back control of the upper chamber from Democrats,
