Barcelona will host the final race of the MotoGP season next week in place of flood-hit Valencia, organisers Dorna announced on Tuesday.

The 2024 Valencia GP is canceled due the the devastating floods in the region. Circuit de Catalunya-Barcelona will host the final MotoGP, November 15-17.

MotoGP cancelled its season-ending Valencia Grand Prix on Friday due to catastrophic floods and said it would announce a new venue and date. The death toll from Europe's worst weather disaster in five decades rose to 205 people,

After initially wanting to run the 2024 MotoGP finale at Valencia as planned on November 15-17, MotoGP made the right decision to cancel the event at the Ricardo Tormo circuit. However a replacement is scheduled for the same weekend and it looks like Barcelona will be the destination of choice.

Barcelona has been hit with red weather warnings as flooding impacts the city, with MotoGP set to head there in two weeks to close the 2024 season. The Catalan city has been hit by flooding this morning (Monday 4 November), and a red alert warning of ‘Extreme Danger’ has been issued.

The Valencia MotoGP is cancelled and several other events have been postponed following the devastating flash floods in Spain.

Much of Spain has been hit by extreme weather for the past week, with the Valencia region being one of the worst hit. Indeed some parts of the Ricardo Tormo circuit have been completely washed out, with access roads collapsing and huge amounts of damage making it difficult to see how a grand prix weekend could go ahead.

The season finale in grand prix motorcycling will not take place in Valencia due to the severe flash floods in the region which have caused wide-ranging destruction and left more than 200 people dead.
