As bizarre as it gets! The India vs South Africa 3rd T20I was halted due to flying ants and and insects at the SuperSport in Centurion on Wednesday. Play was stopped after the first over of the South African innings when flying ants caused havoc.

India defeated South Africa by 11 runs in the third India vs South Africa T20I at the SuperSport Park in Centurion on November 13 (Wednesday). After what was a high-scoring thriller, India gained a 2-1 lead over South Africa in the four-match IND vs SA T20I series.

India have played South Africa only once at the SuperSport Park in Centurion in the short format of the game before today, back in 2018. India lost that game.

IND vs SA: The third T20I match between India and South Africa was halted after just one over being bowled in the second innings by India. The reason was not adverse weather conditions. Instead the IND vs SA match had been halted because there was a sudden swarm of flying ants which engulfed the Centurion Stadium on Wednesday.

The third Twenty20 International between South Africa and India was halted early in the home side’s reply after a wave of flying ants descended on Centurion Park in Pretoria on Wednesday and forced the players from the field.

Laxman walked back holding up 10 fingers to the dressing room, indicating that play will resume in 10 minutes. Corpses of those insects are strewn all over over the ground but the air seems to have been cleared of them.

Suryakumar Yadav-led Team India will look to bounce back in the four-match T20I series against South Africa by winning the third game set to take place at Centurion Park in Centurion on Wednesday, November 13.
