On Thanksgiving, millions of moviegoers flocked to the theater to watch three blockbuster films. Millions of others stayed home to watch the Macy's parade or NFL games.

A Parkersburg woman and a Parkersburg High School graduate and West Virginia University marching band member accomplished their dreams recently by participating in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Americans can watch the 2024 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade telecast on NBC (WAVE 3 in Louisville). The 2024 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, which takes place in New York City, will run for a full 3 ½ hours between 8:30 a.m. to noon. New Yorkers can catch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade at Central Park West.

The century-old Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade will return this Thursday to ring in the holiday season. Even though the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade kicked off for the first time in 1924, this year's parade is not the 100th anniversary of the annual tradition.

There will be six new featured character balloons, including Minnie Mouse, “Extraordinary Noorah” with The Elf on the Shelf, Gabby from “Gabby’s Dollhouse,” Goku from ”Dragon Ball," Marshall from "Paw Patrol" and a new “Spider-Man.”

The annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade wended its way along a 2.5-mile route through central Manhattan on Thursday, 100 years after it was first staged in 1924.
