Luis Suarez scored twice on penalty kicks and Inter Miami overcame Lionel Messi's absence to beat Tigres UANL from Mexico 2-1 in a Leagues Cup quarterfinal Wednesday night.

Despite not having their talisman Lionel Messi for the match, Inter Miami were able to get past Tigres 2-1, advancing to the semifinals of the Leagues Cup behind Luis Suarez burying two penalties to win the match.

Without their star Argentine playmaker, Inter Miami made use of home-field advantage and beat Tigres 2-1 in their Leagues Cup quarterfinal matchup on Wednesday. Lionel Messi had a knock and couldn't play in the pivotal match, with Luis Suarez being supported by three attacking midfielders in Rodrigo De Paul, Tadeo Allende and Telasco Segovia.
