Acting Buffalo Mayor Chris Scanlon said Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia has resigned from his position and will return to the rank of captain.

Joseph Gramaglia, who has been Buffalo Police commissioner since 2022, has been told that he is out of a job. The commissioner was "blindsided" by the decision, said a source with knowledge of the move.
