California Gov. Gavin Newsom ’s online trolling act has claimed another victim: Kid Rock. The musician and prominent supporter of President Donald Trump was triggered on Monday by a post from Newsom’s press office account that used an AI image of Kid Rock to claim he endorsed the governor.
For a decade, Trump has blazed trails online. And now, Newsom has found that by replicating Trump’s posts to the point of outright parody and trolling, he’s effectively gamed social media algorithms and colonized X’s typically right-coded “for you” tab.
