Board fires City Administrator Carl Geffken after nine years, citing leadership concerns and a recent hot-mic controversy.

The Fort Smith board of directors has voted to fire City Administrator Carl E. Geffken. This comes after comments made by Geffken in a recent regular meeting, Geffken could be heard saying "stupid" after someone spoke.

Fort Smith City Administrator Carl Geffken is out, following a unanimous vote by the city's Board of Directors on Tuesday.

"Fort Smith is a great city and over the past eight years and seven months, we have done a lot to improve the city. That is most important," Geffken said.
