Teenage aviator Ethan Guo was detained by Chilean authorities after he flew to an Antarctic base without authorization.

Ethan Guo, 19, had been documenting his attempt to fly solo to all seven continents on social media. He is no longer in custody but has no easy way to leave an island off Antarctica’s coast.

According to CNN, citing Chilean prosecutors, 19-year-old Ethan Guo “multiple national and international regulations” after he allegedly changed flight plans without prior notice and landed on a part of Antarctica without permission from the South American country, which maintains a territorial claim on the area.
