Flacco was always the expected winner of this competition given his veteran presence and experience with head coach Kevin Stefanski. In 2023, Flacco was named Comeback Player of the Year and led the Browns to the postseason. He rejoined Cleveland this offseason after a year with the Indianapolis Colts.

Cleveland will name Joe Flacco their starting quarterback on Monday, according to multiple reports. It took any remaining drama out of the unique quarterback competition that included Kenny Pickett and two rookies in Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders.

On Monday, coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed that Flacco will start at quarterback when the team opens the 2025 regular season against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 7.
