Canadians on Monday are voting to choose a prime minister who will negotiate with President Trump over trade and security, and to navigate their economy through turbulence as businesses freeze spending and hiring.

Canada's Liberal Party took the early lead as voting comes to a close in the country to elect 343 members to the House of Commons. As per reports, Liberals have won 21 seats so far while the Conservatives have bagged 9 constituencies.

The dominant ballot question for much of the 37-day campaign was which candidate will best stand up for Canada against aggressive actions from US President Donald Trump — and voters prefer Mark Carney on that issue,

According to CBC's latest figures, the Liberals have won 20 seats and are leading in 24 others. Meanwhile, Pierre Poilievre's Conservatives have secured 7 seats and are ahead in 32 more. Yves-François Blanchet's Bloc Québécois is leading in 11 constituencies,
