Braves look to extend win streak, take on Guardians
Digest more
Profar’s two-run homer off Nic Enright in the sixth inning was enough for the Atlanta Braves to beat the Guardians, 5-4, and complete a three-game sweep of the home team. The Guardians, who were one of baseball’s hottest teams a minute ago, have lost five of their last seven games.
The Guardians have been one of MLB’s hottest teams over the last few weeks, primarily because of the offense. Cleveland had a team slash line of 251/.326/.421 from the All-Star Break heading into their series against the Braves. However, Atlanta found a way to shut the Guardians’ bats down.
The Guardians have played their best baseball of the season and have been one of the league’s top teams in the immediate aftermath of the 10-game losing streak they suffered before the All-Star break.
Michael Harris II homered and doubled, Nacho Alvarez Jr. and Nick Allen each had three hits and the Atlanta Braves beat the Cleveland Guardians 10-1.
The Guardians are 8 1/2 games back in the AL Central and 3 1/2 behind the Yankees for the third wild card spot.
