A 61-year-old man is recovering in the hospital after losing his leg in a shark attack in Hawaii Friday morning.

Rescuers applied tourniquets and took the 61-year-old man to a hospital in critical condition, officials said. Beaches were closed in the Waiehu Beach Park area.
