The air quality in Delhi has remained in ‘very poor’ category for the past few days. On Wednesday, the AQI of Delhi hovered at 358, a slight improvement from Tuesday’s 384, which also falls in the ‘very poor’ category.

Hundreds of millions of Indians breathe some of the world’s most toxic air year round. Air pollution in the capital area that’s home to about 30 million people is especially stubborn. In winter, the cold weather actually makes the smog even worse — and potent.

In areas like Punjabi Bagh, Wazirpur, Ashok Vihar, Bawana, Jahangirpuri, Mundka, Rohini, Moti Bagh, and Patparganj, the air quality worsened with AQI hit the ‘severe’ category.

The Supreme Court also rapped the Delhi government on Monday and demanded to know how the ban on firecrackers was not fully implemented.

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data showed at least 11 of Delhi’s 40 ambient air quality monitoring stations recorded pollution in the severe range at 8am
