Bankrupt discount retailer Big Lots Inc. is closing its store in Jacksonville Beach as it shuts down hundreds of locations across the U.S. The store is at 14333 Beach Blvd., No. 18, in the Pablo Station shopping center. According to the Big Lots website, the store is open daily 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. for its closing sale.

Big Lots is planning to close stores as it goes through Chapter 11 bankruptcy. A store in Maryland left BI confused about the retailer's purpose.

The pending closure is part of a reorganization effort after the struggling retailer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September.

Last month in bankruptcy filings, Big Lots said it would close almost 50 more stores, bringing its total planned store closures to more than 340.

After announcing bankrupcy the closure of stores last summer, Big Lots is shutting down four more Indiana locations.

Nearly 50 more Big Lots stores across half as many states, including the store’s Nacogdoches location, are joining the growing list of locations that are closing as part of the retailer’s bankruptcy filing.

An Iowa Big Lots store will join a list of more than a hundred locations set to shutter their doors shortly after the retailer filed for bankruptcy protection. In July, Big Lots announced it planned to close 35 to 40 stores across the country with more stores closures coming.

Big Lots is closing two more stores in Upstate New York following its bankruptcy filing. The discount retail chain’s list of store closures has grown to include 12 stores in New York state — up from 10 that were previously announced.
