SCARBOROUGH, Maine (AP) — A 3.8-magnitude earthquake centered near the Maine coast rattled houses in northern New England on Monday and was felt by surprised residents of states hundreds of miles away.

The United States Geologic Survey (USGS) reported a 2.0 magnitude earthquake occurred about 6 miles southeast of York Harbor. This was the same area where a 3.8 magnitude earthquake shook parts of Maine on Monday.

The 3.8-magnitude earthquake was centered about 10 kilometers southeast of York Harbor in Maine, officials said.
