Mark Selby lifted his second Welsh Open title after beating Stephen Maguire 9-6 in the final at Venue Cymru, Llandudno.

Mark Selby claimed the 24th ranking title of his career with a hard-fought victory over Stephen Maguire in the final of the BetVictor Welsh Open. The players could not be separated after the first 12 frames before Selby pulled away with the aid of breaks of 60 and 128 to seal a 9-6 win and secure the Ray Reardon Trophy and first prize of £100,000.

Mark Selby beat Luca Brecel 6-3 to book his place in the final of the Welsh Open. The 2008 winner had edged John Higgins 5-4 in a cagey quarter-final, but showed his intent with a 131 break in the opening frame of the semi-final.

Mark Selby and Stephen Maguire will meet in Sunday's Welsh Open final in Llandudno. Selby, the 2008 champion, beat Luca Brecel 6-3 to book his place in the final, while 2013 winner Maguire held his nerve to beat Ali Carter 6-4 in a late finish at Venue Cymru.
