Striking workers at embattled plane maker Boeing voted Monday to accept the company’s most recent offer, ending the costliest strike in the United States in more than 25 years.

Aircraft assembly workers at Boeing factories near Seattle and elsewhere voted to end a seven-week strike overnight. Leaders of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers district in Seattle said 59% of members who cast ballots agreed to approve the company’s fourth formal offer and the third put to a vote.

Striking machinists accepted a new contract raising wages by 39 percent, but enduring bitterness will complicate Boeing’s efforts to rebuild its battered corporate culture and flawed production process.
