A New York man bought a lottery ticket while visiting a friend in Massachusetts and won a $1 million top prize.

When a Maryland man made a quick stop for snacks and drinks for his family, he also bought a couple of lottery tickets. The Laurel man, who has played the lottery “for years ,” scratched his tickets after finishing a meal at home, Maryland Lottery officials said in a Sept. 18 news release.

A lottery player tried their luck on a game in Pierce County, Washington, and ended up winning $4.2 million. The player bought a Lotto ticket during the Sept. 14 drawing at a Safeway in Puyallup, a spokesperson for Washington’s Lottery told McClatchy News by email Sept. 18.

Inspired by the luck of her best friend, a 63-year-old woman took a chance on an Iowa lottery game. “She won $10,000 on the same ticket and then three months later she got $100,000 on the same ticket,” Melinda Faas said of her friend’s 2021 wins.
