FDNY reveals record-breaking number of brush fires in 5 boroughs past 2 weeks
The FDNY responded to 229 brush fires in the five boroughs from Oct. 29 to Tuesday, the most in a two-week period in recorded history for New York City, according to a news release from the FDNY. A total of 17 brush fires raged on Staten Island, with multiple blazes extinguished at Clove Lakes Park.
