At least five people were killed and more than 200 injured after a car plowed into a crowd at a Christmas market in the German city of Magdeburg on Friday, local authorities said.

Mourners placed flowers near the market following the incident that killed five people, including a 9-year-old child.

The suspect – a Saudi doctor – intentionally drove into a market teeming with holiday shoppers in what police are calling an attack.
