Pro-Palestinian protesters shut down a road Thursday in Dallas, leading to 10 arrests on the first day of a major pro-Israel conference in Dallas.

The group held a sit-in in protest of the war in Gaza and planted an eight-foot olive tree in the middle of the road. Police arrested 12 protesters.

"We refuse to align with organizations, like the JNF, that invoke Judaism to justify genocide and ethnic cleansing," a Jewish Voice for Peace in Texas member said.

Pro-Palestinian groups are calling for protests of the Global Conference for Israel, which is meeting this week in Dallas.

Several demonstrators were handcuffed by Dallas police and led away. The group "planted" a tree in the middle of the road that was later removed by police.

Demonstrators briefly blocked Market Center Blvd. in Dallas to oppose a meeting of the Jewish National Fund late Thursday afternoon. According to the organization Jewish Voice for Peace Dallas, around 20 people were protesting the Jewish National Fund's alleged support of Israel's military intervention in Gaza.

The "Jewish Voice for Peace Dallas" group held the sit-in protest just outside of the Jewish National Fund Conference at the Hilton Anatole.
