Morel appeared to tweak his lower leg while turning back to first base after hitting a single in the third inning, and he ended up getting pulled for a pinch runner. The severity of his injury remains unknown, though it's possible the Rays give him a day or two off in order to properly recover.

The Tampa Bay Rays started their final homestand of the season the right way with a convincing victory in the series opener against the Boston Red Sox.

It was the first homer in 59 at-bats for Casas, who last went deep Aug. 25, when he was Boston's regular cleanup hitter. These days, Casas is batting down in the order -- sixth, seventh or eighth over the last 11 contests -- and he routinely sits against left-handers.
