Epic Games made the announcement with a new trailer and blog post. Starting on April 16, 2026, all Fortnite players can experience Save the World. In this game mode, players work together to fight off waves of monsters, building a base to protect themselves from the onslaught.
Fortnite: Save the World will officially become free-to-play starting 16 April, and it will simultaneously launch on Switch 2, marking the first time the mode will be available on a Nintendo handheld console. The mode is also readily available on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox Series consoles.
