The Department of Defense on Saturday evening identified the six Air Force personnel who died when a KC-135 crashed in Western Iraq earlier this week. In a statement posted to the Pentagon website, the department identified the six as Airmen who were supporting Operation Epic Fury.

All ⁠six ⁠crew members aboard a U.S. ⁠military KC-135 refueling aircraft that crashed in western Iraq are confirmed to ​have been killed, the U.S. military said on Friday.

Hours later, the president said U.S. military forces had struck Kharg Island, an Iranian island in the Persian Gulf that processes the majority of the country’s oil exports.
