A driver plowed a car into a crowd at a street festival celebrating Filipino heritage in Vancouver on Saturday night, killing at least 11 people and injuring dozens more in what police are calling “the darkest day” in the city’s history.

Vancouver police ruled out terrorism in a car ramming attack that killed 11 people at a Filipino heritage festival in the Canadian city.

As we've been reporting, the incident happened during the Lapu Lapu Day festival. Vardeh tells BBC World Service’s Weekend programme that the final live performance of the day, the main event, had just finished when a car drove through a narrow street lined with food trucks, including his, "completely straight, right through the crowd".
