The latest poll has Ohio State remaining at No. 3, right behind new No. 1 Texas, and newly minted, No. 2 Alabama. The top ten behind those three are Tennessee (4), Georgia (5), Oregon (6), Penn State (7), Miami (8), Missouri (9), and Michigan (10).

Alabama took down former US LBM Coaches Poll No. 1 Georgia this weekend, leading to a top-10 shakeup. Nine SEC teams are ranked after Week 5.

OSU remained at No. 3, behind No. 1 Texas and No. 2 Georgia, just as things looked after Week 3. Ohio State has looked absolutely dominant but has yet to play any opponent as good as what both the Longhorns and Bulldogs have, so it’s a bit of a wait-and-see for voters, and it does makes at least some sense.

While some thought Saturday’s game against South Alabama posed a potential trap for LSU, coach Brian Kelly’s team avoided falling into it. The Tigers won 42-10, jumping out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and never looking back.

With the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff debuting in 2024, the SEC could send as many as five programs to the dance. The additions of Texas and Oklahoma raise the floor, but Georgia still sits on the throne in the 2024 SEC Power Rankings.
