The 34th annual ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot kicked off Thanksgiving morning at the Long Center near downtown Austin. Caritas of Austin president Jo Kathryn Quinn shared how the annual trot is helping people experiencing homelessness in Austin.

Before gobbling up Thanksgiving dinner, over 21,000 people participated in a longtime Austin tradition: the 34th annual ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot. Runners, joggers and walkers alike started at the Long Center early Thursday morning before continuing through the downtown Austin course.

The rain-or-shine 5-mile run, which benefits Caritas of Austin, will be held on Thanksgiving starting at 9:30 a.m. at The Long Center for the Performing Arts. In addition to the main event, there will also be a 1-mile walk and a Stepping Stone School Kids K event.
