A government official says Canada is already examining possible retaliatory tariffs on certain items from the United States should President-elect Donald Trump follow through on his threat to impose sweeping tariffs on Canadian products.

Trudeau will assemble Canadian premiers today to discuss a 25% tariff on Canadian and Mexican products that Trump proposed this week.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Tuesday he had a “good call” with President-elect Trump following the incoming U.S. leader’s pronouncement that he would impose a 25 percent tariff on Canadian goods when he takes office.
