Ubisoft says The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest will get offline modes, having done some dubious shuttering in the past.

Ubisoft is adding offline modes to both The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest but isn't bringing back the original game following its shutdown in March. The publisher said on X/Twitter that it heard fans' concerns about the two currently active The Crew games eventually being pulled too,

The original The Crew was taken offline on April 1 and was delisted in December 2023. It then reportedly began to disappear from players' game libraries during April. This news of The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest becoming offline compatible is likely a godsend for many racing fans.

If you’re a fan of The Crew, you likely know that publisher Ubisoft deactivated the always-online racing game back in March. That effectively made all physical copies of the game paperweights and bricked digital copies as well as their purchased downloadable content.

The Crew Motorfest is officially PS5 Pro Enhanced, meaning it will run at a higher resolution at 60 fps, perhaps even 4K

Following increased fan demand, Ubisoft has announced plans to implement offline modes for both The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest. The announcement was made during a Crew Motorfest showcase, and the developers at Ivory Tower have also published a roadmap for Year 2 of the 2023 title.

Ubisoft yanked The Crew from digital stores and a few months later killed its servers, making it impossible to play the driving game even if you bought it on disc. People didn’t like this and now Ubisoft is promising not to kill its sequels,

Perhaps still stinging from the unexpectedly ferocious reaction to its decision to bring The Crew to a sudden, unwanted stop, Ubisoft announced today that offline modes are being developed for The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest.
