The US has revoked the Foreign Terrorist Organisation (FTO) designation of Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), a Syria-based organisation which had ties with al-Qaeda and was also a front of al-Nusrah.

The State Department revoked the terrorist designation of Hayʼat Tahrir al-Sham, a group headed by the country’s new president, Ahmed al-Sharaa.

Trump signed an executive order to end all sanctions against Syria, paving the way for the country to “stabilise in peace” and support its growth. The White House, however, warned that it will be monitoring the new Syrian government’s actions,
