A SWAT standoff has ended after a gunman who barricaded himself for hours was found dead inside a southwest Atlanta home, according to police.

An 8-year-old child is safe following a SWAT standoff early Wednesday morning in southwest Atlanta. The incident unfolded at a home on Burbank Drive, where police say a man barricaded himself inside.

Channel 2’s Bryan Mims is at the scene off Burbank Drive SW, where he spotted at least a dozen of Atlanta police cars. He also saw SWAT vehicles arrive around 4:15 a.m. Several SWAT team members are now standing on the street with their long guns.
