Some schools across the ABC13 viewing area are canceling and delaying classes for Friday due to the effects of Sunday's winter storm and more expected snow.

This week’s winter storm continues to disrupt classes across the D.C. region, with many schools opting to remain closed or open on a delayed schedule on Thursday.

The latest weather closings, cancellations and delays in Northern Virginia for Thursday, Jan. 9. Loudoun County Public Schools: Schools are now closed Thursday, Jan. 9, after a post-sunset assessments of neighborhood roads and sidewalks.

Some schools in the Washington, D.C. area, including the Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia regions, are still closed or have delayed their opening times as they continue to clean up after the early week winter storm.
